Health Centre
Sioux Valley Health Center provides health services to members of the community, and hosts visiting physicians, dieticians, nurse practitioners and full-time dental therapy services on a regular basis. SVHC continues to develop, update and implement policies and procedures regarding the programs and services we deliver to ensure community members can expect the same quality, safety and standards at SVHC as they can expect elsewhere. SVHC has also achieved the first level of accreditation with Accreditation Canada.
SVHC offers the following health programs:
Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative
Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program
Community Health Nursing
Immunizations
Chronic Conditions
Healthy Babies
Community Wellness
Youth Activities
Brighter Futures
Mental Health
Addictions Services
The Prevention Program
Foot Care
Home and Community Care
Medical Transportation
Currently, SVHC has completed a major renovation which now sees all of the health and wellness programs operating under one roof, and will include an infrastructure upgrade for the mechanical systems, windows and doors.
The health building has undergone extensive renovations to increase office space and maximize the general areas for the oyate to be comfortable in as they seek and wait for assistance regarding their medical and health issues. There is a wide range of services provided by SVDN Health Centre personnel from prenatal care to geriatric care through the Home and Community Care program and In Home Care. Privacy and confidentiality are respected as the oyate seeks help within the health centre for all health and wellness needs.
There is an ongoing support system in place through the wellness department for those who seek help with addictions or other problems such as family/domestic violence prevention and anger management.
